FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
St. John’s Episcopal Church in Huntingdon Valley is inaugurating a Lenten series with a global perspective this year. Following its inclusive vision, parish members will prepare and serve Wednesday evening suppers from different cultures and traditions.
The February 16 meal will be a Seder. Prayers and readings from the Jewish culture will be read during the meal, which begins at 7 pm, following Eucharist at 6:30 pm in the church.
There is no charge for the evening. However, a freewill offering will be taken after the meal, and all proceeds will be split between Tsunami Relief efforts and support of the parish’s adopted school in Ghana.
Subsequent cultural meals will be: February 23, Guatemala; March 2, Ireland; March 9, Ghana, and March 16, Japan.
All members of the community are invited. Reservations for the meals are not mandatory, but would be helpful in determining adequate food quantities. The parish office number is 215-947-3212.
