A wide perspective on the culture and spirituality of people in third-world countries will be offered during the month of May at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1333 Old Welsh Road, Huntingdon Valley.

On Wednesday, May 11 at 7 pm, some indigenous people of Ecuador will speak about their spiritual practices and their deep feelings of connectedness to the earth.

“The Children of Ghana” is the topic for Wednesday, May 18 at 7pm, when guest speaker Melissa Schoerke will share her experiences in that country, with special emphasis on a school in Ghana which she co-founded and St. John’s supports.

Saturday, May 21 brings the religion of Islam to the fore as Iftekhar Hussain, Rob Eyre and the Rev. Dr. Guy Collins engage in a Muslim-Christian Dialogue which explores the question, “Who is Jesus?” The program begins at 9:45 am and concludes at noon, with light refreshments to follow. Audience participation is welcomed.

Finally, on Wednesday, May 25 at 7 pm, Sr. Patricia Downs will speak about her experience in Ferrier, Haiti as well as her missionary work among the Haitians in Belle Glade, FL.
