pprox 75% of St.
John’s income comes from investments, endowments, rent and bequests
with the remaining 25% coming from pledges. Ideally we would like to become
less dependant on investment income and be able to spend more on Christian
education, outreach and things of that nature. Through your pledges we
are moving towards that goal. Thank you in 2004 we have seen a 15% increase
in the number of pledges at St. John’s.
Almost 50% of our operating expenses go toward salaries and insurance for the rector, parish administrator and music director; 40% goes to the building maintenance, utilities, grounds keeping, office expenses, etc. The remainder is spent on Christian education, outreach, liturgical supplies and so on.
For the first time in several years, 2004 marked the return of an Annual Stewardship Campaign dedicated to the financial support of Saint John’s Episcopal Church. The results of the first campaign and prospects for 2005 are encouraging.
There are currently fifty regular contributors (contributors that receive Offering Envelopes) for 2005. This figure includes those that have pledged financial support as well as those who have not pledged but contribute regularly to Saint John’s. Thirty of the regular contributors pledged. Considering that we have just completed the first Annual Stewardship Campaign, a pledge ratio of 60% is very good.
The total amount pledged to Saint John’s for 2005 is $36,930, an average pledge of $1230.00 per year or $23.65 per week. Included in this amount are six new pledges and six increased pledges for 2005, totaling $10,850.00.
Comparing to the 2004 budget figure of $32,000.00 for Membership Giving, the 2005 budget will reflect an increase of $13,000.00 to $45,000.00 for 2005.
The Finance Committee is very pleased with the results of the renewed
Annual Stewardship Campaign and would like to thank each of your for your
generous support of Saint John’s. Plans for 2005 will include the
formation of Capital Campaign to coincide with 50th Anniversary of the
main church building in 2006. Please take time to fill out some of the
suggestion forms for suitable projects that you would like included in
the Capital Campaign.
