| How did we get here? | What does this mean to you? |
| • The last two years St. John’s has balanced its budget
by using funds from a generous bequest. That money is now spent. • Membership has been growing over the last three years at around 20% a year • At this rate, in four years time we will have enough members to fund the current operating budget. • Our current budged is ‘bare bones.’ There is little, if any, discretionary expenditure. (See graphs) • At the current rate of member giving, we will be forced to balance the budget by tapping into the principal of our endowment funds. • At the rate we would be required to withdraw money, all of our endowments could be completely depleted in about five years |
• It costs $3,846 each Sunday to run St. John’s. • Revenue from sources other than member giving amounts to only $1,388 per week, leaving a shortfall of about $2,458 per week. • This is equivalent to $35 per week or $1,820 per year for each one of the 70 giving units (families and individuals) who currently contribute. • In other words, a $1,820 average contribution is what is needed to balance the budget. • The average pledge in the Episcopal Church is around $1,800 per year. • The average contribution at St. John’s is $732 per year. • Less than half of the contributors at St. John’s pledge. |
On behalf of St. John’s I want to thank you in advance for considering
pledging to St. John’s for the coming year.
